OVERVIEW

TOUGH-BLK 20 Is A Tough Black Plastic That Simulates Injection-Molded ABS And Offers Long-Term Environmental Stability. It Is Ideal For Rapid High-Performance Prototype And Production Applications Where Lifecycle Stability Is Vital And Mechanical Qualities Are Compatible. With Production-Grade Environmental Stability, Mechanical Qualities, Color, And Opacity For Indoor And Outdoor Use, Dimensions Will Not Alter With Time Or Exposure To Sunlight. With Minimum Polishing, This Material Delivers Great Accuracy, A Clean Surface Finish, And Outstanding Sidewall Quality.

APPLICATIONS

  • Iterative design
  • Sturdy functioning components for
    • Automobile styling components
    • Components for consumer electronics
    • Replacement components from the past
    • Testing for form, fit, and function
    • Assemblies are both durable and snap-fit
    • Cases, bezels, knobs, brackets, covers
  • Molding master designs for RTV/silicone
  • Manufacturing of stiff components on a short-term basis

BENEFITS

  • Functional prototypes that are reliable and sturdy
  • Mechanical and performance attributes are more resistant to environmental degradation over time.
  • Superior accuracy and component quality, including smooth surfaces and sidewalls
  • Stunning black components with the appearance and feel of injection molded ABS

FEATURES

  • Stability of the interior and external environments throughout time
  • Durable and robust
  • Excellent tolerance to humidity/moisture
  • Simulating some of the qualities of black ABS formed in a mold

MATERIAL PROPERTIES

Where relevant, the complete set of mechanical characteristics is provided in accordance with ASTM and ISO standards. All components are conditioned for a minimum of 40 hours at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity in accordance with ASTM recommendations. Physical and mechanical qualities, as well as thermal properties, are all included in material properties.

ISOTROPIC PROPERTIES

Figure 4 technology creates isotropic components, which means that items printed along either the XYZ or Z axis will have equivalent mechanical qualities. Because parts do not need to be orientated to provide the best mechanical characteristics, the degree of freedom for part orientation for mechanical qualities is increased.
